
Hi, I’m Katherine.
I am a scholar, teacher, and consultant.

In all my work, I bring an awareness of interpersonal and cross-cultural dynamics, honed communication and listening skills, and a commitment to meeting individual and collective goals by drawing on a diverse background.
- Academic inquiry: I hold an M.A., M.Div., and Ph.D. in Theology and have explored questions of improvisation in the arts, creativity as spiritual practice, home and migration, and practices of deep listening. My research utilizes first-person ethnographic research methods with a focus on practices of contemplative inquiry, collaborative research, and listening across difference.
- Professional leadership: My leadership is in organizations committed to education, community-building, and equity, including in higher education and non-profits, as an administrator, fundraiser, researcher, and academic editor and translator.
- Religious leadership: I have worked as a youth minister, lead workshops and retreats for churches, and served as a teacher, preacher, and wedding officiant.
- Coaching: I am a certified professional coach utilizing practices of listening and presence to help individuals access their own resourcefulness to solve problems, make changes, and develop new perspectives. I help individuals and organizations make changes, reach goals, break patterns, and find greater fulfillment and purpose.
- Cross cultural experience: I was born in Germany to American parents and have spent significant parts of my life in each country, have traveled extensively, worked in cross-cultural organizations, completed my Ph.D. in Switzerland, led immersion trips, and explored my own cultural biases and privileges through anti-racism work.
- Listening: In my current research, I center practices of deep listening with the goal of building more equitable avenues of knowledge production with diverse communities.
- Commitment to personal transformation: My life has been characterized by deep personal inquiry through counseling, coaching, the healing arts, relationship and communication work, meditation and spiritual practices, and a commitment to an authentic and abundant life.
